North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has condemned Rev Kusi Boateng’s persistent attempts to undermine his oversight duties through repeated court appeals.

Ablakwa’s comments came after the Court of Appeal dismissed Rev Kusi Boateng’s third appeal, seeking to restrain the legislator from making public statements about him regarding the National Cathedral project.

Ablakwa argued that Rev Kusi Boateng’s actions aim to frustrate his constitutional mandate and impede his ability to perform his duties as a member of parliament.

He emphasized that the courts have consistently ruled in his favor, proving he had not acted maliciously or fabricated information.

“It’s essential to allow us to do our job without impediments, especially when the courts have cleared us of any wrongdoing,” Ablakwa stressed.

The Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Pamela Koranteng, dismissed Rev Kusi Boateng’s appeal due to non-compliance with court rules.

The court held that the appellant failed to specify errors made by the trial judge, rendering his grounds for appeal incompetent.

This decision follows two previous failed attempts by Rev Kusi Boateng to restrain Ablakwa from speaking out about the National Cathedral project.

Ablakwa’s lawyer, Thaddeus Sory, had raised concerns about potential bias, citing a newspaper report and Rev Kusi Boateng’s relationship with the Chief Justice.

However, the court found no evidence to support these allegations and struck out the grounds for appeal.

With this ruling, Ablakwa remains committed to fulfilling his oversight responsibilities and ensuring transparency in the National Cathedral project.
