Ghana Water Limited has announced the appointment of Adam Mutawakilu as the Acting Managing Director of the state-owned water utility company.

The appointment, made by President John Dramani Mahama under Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution, awaits approval by the GWL Board in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Mutawakilu, a former Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency (2013–2020) and an experienced public administrator, brings expertise in governance, finance, and energy to the role.

In his inaugural address to GWL staff, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering collaborative leadership.

“I may not have an extensive background in water management, but I bring experience in energy, finance, and governance, and I am eager to learn from and work with the dedicated professionals at Ghana Water Limited,” he stated.

He said the collective efforts of management and staff will be crucial in achieving the vision of the President and ensuring that no community is left behind when it comes to access to potable water.
