Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has defended his recent remarks at a campaign rally, where he stated that the ruling NPP would win the 2024 general elections by all means necessary.

In his defense, the Minister of Food and Agriculture clarified that his comments were taken out of context and were not meant to incite violence.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, August 12, Mr. Acheampong noted that similar rhetoric from the opposition in the past did not lead to unrest.
“There is no violence anywhere; you are putting violence in the heads of people. We were in this country when the NDC told us that they would never hand the presidential seat and if we wanted the seat, we should go to Anloga and let the carpenters carve a seat for us to sit on. Were we not in this country, what happened? Nothing happened.
“In March of this year, Dr Omane Boamah came and told us that they would win the election by 57% and that they were going to fight to win that political power. Did the NDC assume that their fight to win that political power meant that there was going to be unrest in this country and that there was going to be a fight?
“I mean these are figures of speech, you left it to pass and then we move on with our lives,” he stated.
Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, Head of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says that Dr. Bryan Acheampong has a history of making statements that encourage violence.
He has called on diplomats, civil society, and religious leaders to look into Acheampong’s comments.
