Nandaya Yaw Stanley, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Wulensi, has stated that his constituents will ultimately decide whether he joins the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the ninth Parliament.

Stanley, who contested as an independent candidate, shared in an interview on the Point of View (PoV) on Channel One TV on Monday that, while he has a long-standing association with the NDC, he wants to consult with his constituents before making any political decisions.
“I am actually NDC. I have been NDC, and during my last primary, I didn’t get it right, so I decided to go independent,” Stanley explained.
He emphasized the importance of consulting with the people who voted for him, ensuring that their views are central to his decision on which political side to align with in Parliament.
“The power belongs to the people. The people who voted for me are needed in wider consultation to consult on to be able to get what they want from me and where they ask me to go is where I will go,” he stated.
“The youth wing is there. I have the youth representing me at the constituency level. I have the elders representing me at the constituency level and that will not be appropriate for me to choose where I want to belong. It won’t be the best,” he added.
Despite being approached by various parties, Stanley reiterated that the final decision would be made by his constituents.
“Parties have actually spoken to me but I kept to say that it is the people and the power belongs to the people and they will decide where I should be,” he concluded.
