Presidential candidate for the Afrafranto Alliance, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has outlined his vision to establish a “Traders Bank” if elected in the December 2024 elections.

The bank is aimed at supporting micro and macro businesses nationwide, with a focus on providing financial assistance to traders, who represent a significant portion of Ghana’s economy.

With 80% of Ghanaians involved in trading, Kyerematen’s initiative seeks to address the difficulties traders face in accessing affordable credit.

Addressing a crowd at Asuofua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Alan emphasized that the Traders Bank would provide low-interest loans, enabling traders to expand their businesses without the heavy financial burdens of traditional banks. “This bank will be for you, with low-interest loans to help you earn a decent profit,” he assured.

Kyerematen’s Traders Bank stands out by targeting traders directly, addressing the challenges faced by men and women in this sector. This sets it apart from other candidates’ proposals, which mainly focus on women or the broader business landscape.

Recognizing the critical role traders play in Ghana’s economy, Kyerematen noted that many, especially women, struggle with traditional banks’ high-interest rates.

The Traders Bank would remove these barriers, offering easy access to credit. “This will be the fuel for business growth,” Kyerematen emphasized.

He also criticized previous governments for neglecting traders’ needs and urged voters not to repeat past mistakes in the upcoming elections. “Find me at number 13 on the ballot, and let’s transform Ghana together,” he said.

Kyerematen’s campaign in the Ashanti Region, which includes the Traders Bank as part of his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), aims to win voters’ support with practical solutions to economic challenges, such as affordable credit for traders.
