Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, has emerged victorious in the Awutu Senya East constituency, defeating incumbent MP Mavis Hawa Koomson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Naa Koryoo garnered 50,886 votes, surpassing Hawa Koomson’s 46,638 votes, to become the Member of Parliament-elect for the constituency.

Her victory marks a significant achievement for the NDC in this highly contested seat, with her campaign’s focus on addressing local issues resonating strongly with voters.

This result is part of broader gains made by the NDC in the 2024 general elections, further solidifying their position in Parliament.

“It has been a hard-fought win for me. Kasoa is now free and will see development under my watch,” Naa Koryoo Okunnor said.

There was a huge crowd at the forecourt of the Central East Regional Police Command where party supporters of the NDC had gathered waiting for the final declaration of the result.
