The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Adansi Akrofuom District has begun compiling a list of farmers in the Sikaman area whose access to their farms has been restricted following the recent August 6 helicopter crash.

Farmers have voiced concerns that these restrictions are preventing them from reaching their farms, raising fears of potential food shortages and significant impacts on their livelihoods.

While Joseph Azumah, the area’s Member of Parliament, has assured interventions, the Adansi Akrofuom District Assembly is still verifying the list of affected farmers. Gariba Mohammed Mustapha, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adansi Akrofuom, confirmed on Monday, August 11, that the compilation is ongoing.

“The list the director brought to me was too packed. They wrote about 219 names, so we verified the names. By the end of the week, we will know what to do. But in our opinion, those who will be passing there will be about 20 people,” the DCE stated. He also noted that besides a recovered wristwatch, only helicopter parts have been returned following an announcement for the return of items found at the crash site.
