The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested 10 armed men at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region for posing as members of the task force.

The suspects, believed to have links with the Aowin Traditional Authority, were reportedly operating with impunity, extorting money from illegal miners and enabling galamsey activities in the area.

A dawn operation by the NAIMOS team led to the arrest of the group, who were found in possession of weapons and talismans.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.
