Napoli has completed the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in a £30 million deal.

This move reunites Lukaku, 31, with manager Antonio Conte, who previously coached him at Inter Milan, where they enjoyed two successful seasons together from 2019 to 2021.

Lukaku initially rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for a club-record fee of £97.5 million but spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, first with Inter and then with Roma.

Under Conte at Inter, Lukaku scored 24 league goals, playing a key role in their 2021 Serie A title victory, which prompted Chelsea to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

However, Lukaku has not played for Chelsea since May 2022. His departure also relieves Chelsea of his substantial £325,000-a-week wages.

Conte hinted in a pre-match press conference that Lukaku could make his debut for Napoli in their upcoming match against Parma on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli are reportedly in talks to sign Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, a move that could help Napoli balance their finances following the acquisition of Lukaku.
