Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul Osman Razak, the National Security Coordinator, is heading a high-level government delegation to Nkwanta in the Oti Region in response to violent clashes that occurred last week.

The disturbances, which resulted in five deaths and left many others injured, have heightened security concerns and instilled fear within the community.

The exact circumstances surrounding the violence remain unclear, but sporadic gunfire was reported, causing widespread panic and forcing residents to flee their homes.

Many families have been displaced, seeking refuge in surrounding areas, while schools remain closed, and businesses are struggling to operate amid the ongoing instability.

The presence of gunfire not only resulted in tragic fatalities but also left several people with severe injuries, some of whom are receiving treatment at local health facilities.

The clashes have strained the already limited medical resources in the area, prompting calls for urgent government intervention.
