Clement Donkor, the Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in New Juaben South, has expressed alarm over the rising trend of monetization in politics, stating it threatens the integrity of free and fair elections.

During an inter-party dialogue in Koforidua, he emphasized that accepting money from candidates undermines accountability and fosters a culture where candidates believe they can buy votes.

Donkor called for stricter enforcement against vote-buying and urged police to arrest those involved in such practices.

The dialogue brought together representatives from various political parties, traditional leaders, and civil society organizations, highlighting the urgent need to combat this issue.

He also advised the media to avoid sensationalism that could escalate tensions during the electoral process.

The New Juaben South Electoral Commission Officer, Gifty Nyamekye Manteaw, added that ignorance of electoral laws often leads to conflicts among party supporters, while Superintendent Ransford Nsiah reminded politicians to adhere to the Public Order Act.

To address these challenges, a new Inter-Party Dialogue Committee has been formed to promote peace and manage disputes during the upcoming elections.
