The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Kathleen Addy, has urged voters to be cautious of politicians attempting to manipulate them for their own agendas.

In an interview with Channel One TV’s Sammie Wiafe and David Kwaku Sakyi, Madam Addy emphasized the need to curb the spread of misinformation during the elections.

She called on voters to verify information and refrain from becoming agents of falsehood, particularly before the voting process concludes, in order to protect the integrity of the elections.

“I will urge all Ghanaians that let us all have it at the back of our minds that, there are people out there trying to use us to execute their own agenda.

“You’re not part of the agenda, so using your data, and resources to promote other people’s agenda by sharing does not inure to your benefits.

“So we should be very careful about the things we share, especially in the next few hours, to ensure that we don’t become participants in spreading fake news.”
