Reports have emerged of a concerning situation in the Atewa Forest Reserve, specifically in the Kwabeng area, where a group claiming ties to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly taken control of parts of the forest.

Sources suggest that the group is asserting its right to mine in the forest, allegedly using the party’s position in government as justification for their actions.
The individuals have erected a wooden barricade at the site, effectively blocking access to that portion of the forest reserve and restricting entry to others.
Concerns have been raised about the potential environmental and legal implications of such activities, as Atewa Forest is a protected area critical for biodiversity and water resources.
