The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Afadzato South has raised serious concerns about the conduct of the District Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC).

The officer was reportedly found by the police in possession of electoral materials in her private vehicle while traveling to the constituency without a police escort, violating EC protocols.

In a press release dated December 6, 2024, the NDC condemned the officer’s actions, citing a statement from the EC signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey. The NDC has called for her immediate removal, asserting that her conduct has jeopardized the integrity of the electoral process.

“We cannot trust such an officer to be an impartial arbiter in such a nervy election. We therefore demand that the officer in question immediately recuse herself from participating further in the processes of the elections pending the outcome of ongoing police investigations,” the statement read.

The NDC emphasised its commitment to ensuring the will of the Afadzato people prevails on December 7th.

The party expressed gratitude to its flagbearer, John Mahama, the Parliamentary Candidate, and the party leadership for empowering them to remain vigilant until the end.
