Evans Nimako, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Research and Elections, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has “failed the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) forensic audit test.”

During a live broadcast IPAC meeting on Tuesday, the Electoral Commission (EC) addressed concerns regarding the voter register, indicating that discrepancies in the provisional voters’ register had mostly been resolved and that it would re-exhibit the register online.

The EC also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a credible register and conducting free and fair elections in the upcoming December polls.

In an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, Nimako emphasized the importance of understanding the electoral process and how the final voters register is compiled.

“Let me clarify that today the data indicates that the NDC has failed the IPAC forensic audit test. Why do I say this? If you grasp the entire electoral process and how the final voters register is generated, you will see that when examining CI 126 as amended, particularly regulations 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27, you will understand that the EC has compiled the register into a provisional voters register.

The law states that copies must be provided to political parties in a manner determined by the EC. At this stage, it is intended for observation to facilitate corrections at both administrative and legal levels,” Nimako explained.

He acknowledged that while the NDC had raised certain concerns, the core issue was their failure to provide the EC with the necessary evidence to substantiate their claims.

“Yes, the NDC had raised some concerns, but the challenging issue with their concerns has been that they refused to provide the EC with the evidence they have.

“It turned out from the EC IT directorate that the NDC method of assessing the register, of analyzing the register, is problematic. It is the reason why they are coming out with so much jargon, forensic audit here and there,” he stated.
