The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has submitted a new writ to the Sekondi High Court, seeking to overturn a ruling on its recent injunction application.
On Thursday, October 31, 2024, Accra’s High Court (General Jurisdiction 6) dismissed the NDC’s injunction request, filed on October 17, aimed at preventing the Electoral Commission (EC) from printing ballot papers and posting a notice of poll for the Amenfi Central Constituency.

The NDC initiated the suit after the EC declined to recognize Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the NDC’s elected parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, despite a Sekondi High Court ruling on May 13, 2024, affirming her candidacy.
The court’s decision stated that the EC’s position adhered to existing orders.
However, the NDC believes this ruling is flawed, prompting the party to contest it.
Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer, Deputy Director of Elections for the NDC, explained that the judge’s interpretation of the injunction left the party with no option but to pursue another legal challenge.
