In a landslide victory, Joycelyn Tetteh of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has successfully defended her parliamentary seat in the North Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region.

She defeated Edmund Attah Kudjoh of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered significantly fewer votes.

Tetteh secured 12,778 votes (72.13%) while Attah Kudjoh received 4,722 votes (26.65%), and the Liberal Party of Ghana’s (LPG) Gloria Yayra Agbenorto obtained just 134 votes (0.76%). A total of 17,715 votes were cast in the election.

Despite a vigorous campaign by the NPP, with the government backing Attah Kudjoh and local figures like Minister of Energy Herbert Krapa offering donations of various goods to voters, the NDC’s dominance in North Dayi was unshaken.

The NPP’s efforts to sway the electorate through material incentives did not alter the outcome, with voters favoring Tetteh’s proven track record and strong connection with the community.

Joycelyn Tetteh, who has served North Dayi since 2016, is recognized for her commitment to education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure. Her re-election strengthens her mandate and solidifies her popularity in the constituency.

After the results were declared, Tetteh addressed her supporters, expressing gratitude for their trust and pledging to continue prioritizing progress over empty promises. She emphasized that the victory is a reflection of the collective desire for real development in North Dayi.

The NPP’s defeat, despite significant investments and support from high-ranking party officials, highlights the NDC’s continued stronghold in the region.

Tetteh’s decisive victory further cements her position as a key political figure in North Dayi.
