The Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has confirmed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus will officially take the majority position when Parliament reconvenes on Thursday.
Agbodza made this declaration during a campaign tour in the Volta region with the NDC’s running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, at Adaklu Ahunda.

He emphasized that the NDC would reclaim the majority after Speaker Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant.
“I will be entering Parliament on Thursday as the Majority Chief Whip and nothing less,” Agbodza stated firmly.
“I have no intention of being called the Minority Leader in 2024, and that will not happen. I will be going to Parliament as Majority Chief Whip, and I will return as Majority Chief Whip.
Anyone who objects to that can do as they wish. As far as I’m concerned, the four colleagues have vacated their seats as per Article 97.”
He further clarified that since the four MPs had decided not to contest their seats, they were no longer valid members of Parliament.
Agbodza also addressed claims made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during a campaign stop with its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regarding road construction in the Adaklu constituency.
The NPP had asserted that it built the first tarred road in the area.
Refuting these claims, Agbodza stated, “The only road they’ve attempted is Akwetey to Waya, which was actually awarded under the previous administration. It has existed for over a decade.
You can see the difference in quality when you compare the roads they claim to have constructed in less than a year with the roads we’ve built under the NDC. This is NDC quality versus NPP quality.”
