Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has dismissed claims that the party is nervous about a potential rerun of elections in the Dome Kwabenya constituency.

His comments were in response to remarks by Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Abuakwa South, who questioned why the NDC, which claims victory, appears uneasy about a rerun.
The controversy arose from the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to conduct a rerun of elections at the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre within the Dome Kwabenya constituency. The NDC has rejected this directive.
Despite NDC candidate Faustina Elikplim Akurugu being initially declared the winner, the EC later argued that the pink sheets from the constituency did not meet electoral standards, prompting the rerun.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle, Edudzi Tameklo criticized the EC’s decision, suggesting that the rerun could unfairly benefit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and alter the final results.
“You can call for a rerun and everybody will come and vote, and that has the potential of changing the entire results. It’s the dynamism with the elections, you can’t say I’m nervous, I’m not, it’s a typical NDC stronghold, so I’m not nervous at all.
“But all I’m saying is that two elections conducted, the dynamics of turnouts can even change the outcome.”
