The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has emphasized its commitment to maintaining peace during the upcoming December 7 general elections but has decided not to sign the Peace Council’s proposed peace pact.

This pact aims to bind competing political parties to uphold peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process and beyond.

The NDC argues that the Peace Council has not created a balanced and inclusive environment in the lead-up to the elections, leading to their decision to abstain from signing the agreement.

Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, articulated this stance during a recent media interview, highlighting that the Peace Council has not acted as an impartial referee in the electoral process.

Gbande asserted, “The NDC cannot endorse a pact that does not ensure fairness and equality among all political parties. We believe that for a peace agreement to be effective, it must reflect the interests and concerns of all stakeholders involved.”

As the elections approach, the NDC remains focused on advocating for a peaceful and democratic process while standing firm on its position regarding the peace pact.
