The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, have filed an injunction to stop the Electoral Commission (EC) from printing parliamentary ballot papers and the notice of poll for the constituency.

This action comes after Cudjoe’s disqualification by the EC, which was based on an interlocutory injunction from the Sekondi High Court. The court order prevents the EC from recognizing her as the party’s candidate.

The EC stated that Cudjoe was disqualified due to an ongoing lawsuit against her candidacy that has not been resolved or overturned. The commission emphasized that it was obligated to follow the court’s directive.

In a letter, the EC confirmed, “You have been disqualified from standing as a candidate for election to Parliament in your Constituency.”

However, Ayine and Associates, representing Cudjoe, argued in an October 15 letter to the EC that she remains the NDC’s duly elected candidate for the constituency.
