Goosie Tanoh, Chair of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto Committee on Employment and Job Creation, has assured Ghanaians that an NDC-led government will focus on stabilizing the economy.

Criticizing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s claims of economic recovery, Tanoh dismissed them as unconvincing and disconnected from the harsh realities faced by ordinary citizens.

In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, on Monday, November 18, Tanoh reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to stabilizing the local currency and tackling inflation as part of a comprehensive plan to restore economic stability in the country.

“The NDC’s agenda is basically to stabilise, recover, grow and transform. We have not turned any corner. The exchange rate one month ago was GHS15, it’s now GHS17. And they have to enter the market at $200 million to bring inflation down.

“You need to put the real buffers in to stabilise. We have been to the IMF 17 times, and we have had these reports before about how wonderful, how we were about to turn the corner.”

“Stabilise, grow your economy, bring food prices inflation down, increase output so that you can supply raw materials to industries operating at 65% capacity. Generate the jobs, generate the income, mobilise your tax revenue because you have more people working,” he said.
