The National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth has today, July 6, 2021, taken to the street of Accra to express their grievances on brutalization recently encountered by some persons in the country.
The protesters for the ‘March for Justice’ are demanding for justice for persons like Kaaka, Ibrahim Issaka and Alhassan Fuseni, brutalized by the security agencies.
It started around 9:00am, from the Accra Mall, through to the Airport Junction, 37 Military Hospital, Jubilee House and towards the Parliament House.
The protesters were joined by some NDC gurus and some members of Parliament.
Some of the placards held up by some of the protesters, reads:’GBEE WO FEE’ which literally mean ‘Kill Us All’. Others has, ‘Akuffo Addo Is A Dictator’ and ‘Implement the Commission report’.
The demonstrators were separated into four different groups so as to adhere to COVID-9 protocol.
Policemen were deployed to control and protect the protesters and direct the traffic caused by the demonstration.
When GhanaTalksRadio asked one of the protesters why he came out to protest, he responded by saying: “why always bad things are happening to Zongo communities because most victims of the brutalization are Zongo youth.”
The demonstrators were led by the NDC leaders, to present their petition to the President at the Jubilee House.
The petition was read and received by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor.
“Everybody’s voice must be heard, so I will give it to the President.” He urged.
At the Parliament house, the NDC leaders, led the protesters to submit their petition to the leader of the Parliament.
Both minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, received the petition on behalf of the Parliamentary house.
So far, the ‘March for Justice’ has been successful without any incidence of brutalization or high handedness by security forces.
