Paul Twum Barimah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament of deliberately inciting chaos and undermining Ghana’s democracy.
His remarks come ahead of the reconvening of Parliament on Thursday, November 7, following Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to recall the House.

The debate centers around which party holds the majority in Parliament.
Twum Barimah’s comments were in response to statements by Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, who declared that the NDC caucus would assume the majority position when Parliament resumes.
Agbodza made these remarks during a campaign event in Adaklu Ahunda as part of a tour led by Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC’s presidential running mate, in the Volta Region.
In an interview with Channel One News, Twum Barimah pointed out that Speaker Bagbin had clarified that no caucus had been officially recognized as the majority or minority.
He argued that the NDC’s claim to the majority was a deliberate attempt to stir confusion and disrupt parliamentary proceedings.
Twum Barimah further stressed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to peace and safeguarding Ghana’s democracy.
He warned that the NDC’s actions were part of a calculated effort to destabilize the political environment.
“It’s an attitude they want to put up to cause chaos, destroy peace, and undermine the democracy we have built in this country. We will not allow that,” he said.
He assured that the NPP caucus would conduct government business peacefully and remain committed to protecting the country’s democracy, institutions, and citizens when Parliament reconvenes.
