The National Democratic Congress (NDC) “Resetting Ghana” manifesto would lead to the cancellation of the nursing trainee allowance if the NDC comes to power, according to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate stated that the NDC’s manifesto signals a commitment to abolish NPP policies that have been improving the lives of Ghanaians.

During his address at the Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training College, he emphasized that the NDC’s Resetting Ghana manifesto threatens the nursing trainee allowance and all other beneficial NPP initiatives.

“The NDC’s manifesto poses a significant threat to the nursing trainee allowance because they do not support this commendable program,” he cautioned.

Dr. Prempeh, also known as ‘Napo,’ pointed out that the NDC’s inconsistent stance on the nursing trainee allowance indicates their intent to eliminate the program.

“I am concerned for our nursing trainees because if the NDC were to gain power, they would swiftly scrap the nursing trainee allowance, which provides vital financial support for students,” he said.

He criticized the NDC for their contradictory public statements regarding the policy, asserting that they lack genuine interest in the welfare of nurses and nursing trainees. He urged these groups to vote against the NDC.

Dr. Prempeh highlighted that since 2017, the NPP has employed 150,000 nurses, and just two months ago, they proposed further employment of nurses and teachers, which the NDC opposed.

He asserted that the NPP is the only political party with concrete plans to enhance the health sector through modern infrastructure that meets international standards.

“The Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia NPP government has built hospitals and provided 13,000 beds to enhance patient comfort during treatment.

Thirty of the Agenda 111 hospitals have been completed and will be handed over next month, reflecting our commitment to quality healthcare for Ghanaians,” he noted.

Napo reiterated that the health sector in Ghana consistently improves under the NPP, reminding citizens that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was introduced by the NPP administration under former President Kufuor.

He concluded by stating that Dr. Bawumia has further plans to advance the health sector, urging voters to support the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections.
