The Ngleshie Amanfro Police Command has attributed the increasing number of road crashes on the Kasoa–Winneba Highway to reckless driving and general indiscipline among motorists.
This follows a fatal accident that occurred at the Kasoa tollbooth on Sunday, October 26, 2025, claiming two lives and leaving several others with injuries.
Chief Inspector Joseph Mensah of the Ngleshie Amanfro District Police MTTD, speaking to Citi News, described the crash as entirely preventable.
He expressed concern over the persistent disregard for road safety regulations despite continuous public education by the police.
“The way our drivers on this stretch drive, and with their speeding habits, we have been advising and educating them all the time. Because today was Sunday, they thought the police would not be on the road, and now look at what a driver has done to a passenger?” he lamented.
He urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules and speed limits to prevent further loss of lives, emphasising that police patrols and enforcement exercises would continue on the highway to curb reckless driving.
