Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, the Presidential Adviser on Health, has announced that National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) enrollment has surged to over 17 million under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, a significant increase from approximately 11 million members in 2017 when the NPP took office.

Speaking on Channel One TV about the NPP manifesto, Dr. Nsiah-Asare attributed this growth to the government’s ongoing efforts to expand healthcare access and affordability for Ghanaians.

He highlighted key initiatives, including the introduction of a digital renewal process via *929#, which has made membership renewals more convenient.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare further emphasized that NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is committed to continuing and expanding these efforts to further improve healthcare access in the country.

The NHIS, established in 2003, aims to provide financial risk protection and ensure access to quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.
