Nigeria: Bandits burn down military camps, kill soldiers

It has been reported that bandits attacked a camp of the Joint Security Task Force in Arawa, Niger State. The joint battalion included the army, police, civil defense, and Vigilante forces.

According to multiple sources, the event occurred on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 and in the early hours of Thursday, April 1, 2021, when the gunmen also attacked Manta, Gurmana, Bassa and Kokki communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The bandits carted away with 7 motorcycles, burnt down military camps, and abducted more than 10 people.

They also reportedly killed one Alhaji Sale in Madalla community and kidnapped four people. President of Shiroro Youth Movement, Mohammed Sani Idris said the bandits numbering about 100 were armed with AK47. He said they attacked the communities for about five hours unchallenged.

The criminals also killed an Alhaji Sale in the Madalla community and kidnapped four people. Chairman of the Silo Youth Movement, Mohammed Sani Idris affirmed that, about 100 bandits who attacked all wielded AK47. He further said the attackers spent over 5 hours with no one to challenge them.

In his words, “During the invasion, they killed one Alhaji Sale in Madalla community under Bassa ward and kidnapped four people and went away with two motorcycles.

“Also in Kokki Boddo a community under Gurmana ward, they abducted six persons and took away five motorcycles, five people were also kidnapped in Manta ward.”
