Amid escalating crisis in Nigeria, GhanaTalksRadio has gathered that a fresh attack was launched on Ruwan Tofa village in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on the night of Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

In a rather unfortunate event, some suspected bandits stormed the village and carted away over 70 people, including nursing mothers and children. They also made away with valuables, such as foodstuffs and animals.

According to reports, it was gathered that the armed men, who came on motorcycles, began shooting sporadically after making entrance into the the village.

A source said: “The attack lasted for several hours, the gunmen took at least 70 persons into the forest.”

BACKGROUND

Over the years, several attacks have struck Nigeria’s Zamfara State, and several other Northern states, where bandits and terrorists have continued to thrive effortlessly.

It should be recalled that in the early hours of Friday, 26 February, 2021, gunmen stormed the Jangebe Government Girls Secondary School in the Tarata Mafala Local Government Area in Zamfara State, and took away three-hundred and seventeen (317) school girls.

Through a miraculous means, the school girls were released on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

This is but a few of many other cases that have ravaged the Nigerian people. Many have said the bandits have adopted the kidnapping scheme as a new and more prosperous source of income. And due to the rot in Nigeria’s system, the security forces have failed to either capture or prosecute the notorious bandits.
