A Nigerian man, 37, was released from prison on July 25, 2024, after being incarcerated since 2019 for his involvement in the death of a sex worker.

In an interview with GHOne TV, he shared his story, revealing that he had come to Ghana to engage in fraudulent activities due to the country’s stable electricity supply.

He claimed to have partnered with someone in Ghana, with whom he shared profits from successful scams.

However, a dispute arose over the sharing of profits, leading to a fight. After leaving his partner, he sought the services of a prostitute, who mysteriously died in his hotel room, resulting in his arrest.

The man narrated that he had picked up the sex worker at a bar and taken her to his hotel room, where she drank Smirnoff and later became unresponsive.

He called the hotel attendant, who helped him take her to the bathroom, but she didn’t wake up. The attendant then called the police, leading to his arrest.

Since his arrest in 2019, the man claimed he had never been taken to court and had been languishing in jail until the Justice for All programme intervened.

He expressed gratitude for his release and vowed never to engage in fraudulent activities again, opting to return to Nigeria.
