Kelechi Iheanancho, Nigeria and Leicester City striker’s has equaled the record for the most goals scored in the African FA Cup set by the Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba.
Ayanacho on Sunday, March 21, 2021, scored twice in the FA Cup game against Manchester United at the King Power Stadium, raising his number of goals to 12.
He popped in his first goal in the 24th minute of the game, and in the 78th minute, he scored his second goal.
Prior to leaving Chelsea in 2012, Drogba recorded a total of 12 goals in the tournament.
Leicester coach said: “I’m delighted for Kelechi. I see improvement in him and, day by day, he trains so hard.”
The former Manchester City star will hope to officially break the record when facing Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final, or wait till next year.
