The Nkwanta North District has successfully managed its first case of mpox after the patient was quarantined, treated, and discharged following 21 days of medical care and observation.
The first case in the district was reported in August 2025.
Health officials said the individual remains under monitoring to ensure full recovery.
District Chief Executive Isaiah Cudjoe Dordoe described the case as isolated but noted that sensitisation campaigns have been launched across the district to raise awareness and prevent further spread.
On typhoid, he added that medical teams are currently deployed in the district and other parts of the Oti Region.
While no new cases have been reported, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to avert any escalation.
Cudjoe Dordoe said, “We recorded one incident, but God willing, we tried to detain the person, we sent the samples to Accra, and now the lady is cured. They have not received any cases yet. Now we’re safe, there’s no fear.”
