The National Labour Commission (NLC) has advised the leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), to appear before it on Wednesday, July 10.

CLOGSAG did not attend a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, following the start of its strike.

The association reportedly refused to attend the meeting, citing issues with the composition of the committee formed to address their concerns.

In an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Ofosu Asamoah, mentioned that the composition of the panel is under review and urged the association to attend the rescheduled meeting.

“Upon their notice, we requested responses from the involved ministries, as well as the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor, who is leading the ministerial committee on the negotiation.

They duly responded, and a meeting was scheduled. However, CLOGSAG challenged the constitution of the panel.

“So, the commission has reviewed the situation and has been directed to respond, referencing sections 136 and 178 of the Labour Act, and to reschedule a meeting for July 10. Meanwhile, they are to call off the strike,” Asamoah stated.
