Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company, has reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to avoiding the introduction of “draconian” taxes on Ghanaians.

Speaking ahead of the 2025 budget presentation by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, Mr. Gyamfi described the forthcoming budget as a “budget of hope,” designed to ease economic hardships rather than impose new financial burdens.

He assured the public that the 2025 budget would prioritize job creation for all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, and reflect the NDC government’s dedication to revitalizing the nation’s economy.

His comments precede the highly anticipated budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, where many expect the NDC administration to deliver on its pledge to abolish taxes such as the betting tax, E-Levy, and COVID-19 levy.

“…I can tell you that this budget will not introduce any draconian taxes like they did when they were in government. This budget is a budget of hope. It is a budget that will ease hardships and not impose hardship on them.

“It is a budget that will be creating jobs, not collapsing them like they did. We do not have to speculate at all,” he stated.
