Former Senior Advisor at the United Nations, Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah, has stated that Ghana’s economic situation will not improve even if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the elections.

He believes that if the NDC wins, they will still have to continue with the current International Monetary Fund (IMF) program and its conditions.

He shared these views while discussing Ghana’s democratic practices on TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, August 10.

Professor Agyeman-Duah noted that while democracy is valuable, the way it is practiced in Ghana has not been very beneficial to the people.

He highlighted that the main achievement of Ghana’s democracy has been the successful transition of governments in the Fourth Republic.

“When you engage, they are very disappointed, they don’t know the future for themselves, they don’t see the future…we the elders are not demonstrating that the future will be bright for them, they know our democracy is overly monetized, they know people steal money and buy their seats.
