The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in the Upper East Region is encouraging Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) users to adopt the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) for better and more affordable services.
The CRM involves filling LPG cylinders at exchange points closer to users, who would only pay for the gas content or exchange their empty cylinders.
This approach aims to reduce risks in LPG operations, increase accessibility, enhance the efficiency of LPG operations, and create more opportunities.

Bashiru Natogma, the NPA’s Upper East Regional Manager, emphasized that the CRM would be implemented through exchange points across all communities, ensuring convenience for users. Obed Kraine Boachie, Head of Gas at NPA, highlighted that under the CRM, consumers wouldn’t need to buy a cylinder; instead, they would receive one when they register to use LPG.
The NPA is also discussing with the government to reduce taxes on LPG, making it more affordable. Sarah Yakubu from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Upper East Region commended the promotion of LPG use for its environmental benefits in reducing deforestation.
Bright Akobanyam, the Upper East Regional Safety Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, advised the public to handle fire with caution to prevent accidents.
