The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has notified the Criminal Court 3 of the High Court in Accra to allow it to withdraw and transfer the ongoing extortion case involving former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr Mustapha Hamid, and 10 others to a new court after the filing of a fresh charge sheet.

In court on Thursday, November 13, prosecutors from the OSP informed the presiding judge that a new charge sheet was filed on October 17, which has since been assigned to Criminal Court 4 (CC4).

According to the OSP, the return date for the new case has been confirmed for December 9, 2025.

“We humbly pray that to ensure a smooth transition, the court should oblige us the same date, December 9, so that we may on that day withdraw from this court and proceed to the other court CC4,” the prosecution stated.

Counsel for the accused, Joseph Kpemka, indicated that the defence was not opposed to the application.

The presiding judge then adjourned the matter to December 9 at 10 a.m.
