NPP claims top position on ballot for 2024 presidential election, Mahama secures position 8

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has secured the top position on the ballot for the 2024 Presidential Election following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting process.

The exercise, conducted on September 20, 2024, at the EC headquarters, determined the placement of political parties and independent candidates for the December 2024 elections.

Evans Nimako, the NPP’s Director of Elections, drew the first position for his party, while Fifi Kwetey, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured the 8th position.

The official order of qualified parties on the ballot paper is as follows:

New Patriotic Party (NPP) – 1

Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) – 2

Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) – 3

Ghana Union Movement (GUM) – 4

Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) – 5

National Democratic Party (NDP) – 6

Convention People’s Party (CPP) – 7

National Democratic Congress (NDC) – 8

All People’s Congress (APC) – 9

Following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting process on September 20, 2024, independent candidates have also been assigned their positions on the ballot for the December 7, 2024, presidential election.

Independent candidate Kofi Koranteng will appear in the 10th position, while George Twum Barima is set for the 11th spot.

The New Force Movement, led by Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has secured the 12th position, and the Movement for Change will be listed last at number 13.

These independent candidates will compete against nine qualified political parties, creating a dynamic race as both political parties and independents vie for the presidency.

The balloting has set the stage for the upcoming election, with parties now intensifying their campaign efforts.
