Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, will officially be introduced as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday, July 9, in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.
This event is eagerly anticipated, especially in the NPP’s stronghold.
The decision was endorsed by the NPP’s National Council on July 5, receiving praise from top party officials, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who expressed confidence in their leadership for the 2024 elections.
NAPO expressed gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for choosing him as his running mate and pledged to work closely with him to ensure the party’s victory.
The NPP has defended NAPO against criticism and has opened nominations for the Manhyia South parliamentary seat, which NAPO vacated.
The upcoming presidential election in 2024 promises to be competitive, with the NPP’s duo of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) facing off against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket of former President John Dramani Mahama and Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
