Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Walewale, has committed to accepting the results of the rerun election if it is conducted fairly.
This statement follows the Tamale High Court’s decision on September 2 to annul the results of the party’s primary in the constituency and order a rerun.
In a media interview, Dr. Kabiru expressed his readiness to honor the electorate’s decision, provided the rerun is transparent and free from interference.
“As a sportsman, I understand that elections come with the possibility of defeat. If the rerun is conducted fairly and without any deliberate bias, I will accept the outcome.
We cannot always gauge voter intentions from their expressions; their true choices will be revealed through the process,” he said.
He also voiced concerns about the rerun’s venue change from Walewale Park to Walewale Pentecost Church along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway, a decision made without prior notice to the candidates.
