The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned that its members may be forced to defend themselves if the ongoing attacks, allegedly carried out by individuals linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), continue.

The NPP condemned the violent actions targeting its members, referring to the perpetrators as “rampaging NDC youth,” and called for an immediate end to the attacks to prevent further escalation.
Salam Mustapha, National Youth Organizer of the NPP, voiced his concern, stressing that the relentless assaults on their members cannot go unchecked.
He urged the NDC leadership to take swift action to address the actions of their supporters and appealed to law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and order in the post-election period.
The remarks come amidst heightened tensions following Ghana’s 2024 general elections, which saw the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama emerge as President-elect.
Various reports of clashes and unrest have been recorded in the aftermath of the polls, raising concerns about political stability and public safety.
“We cannot but also defend ourselves if we come under extreme attack. If this is what the NDC won power for, then it looks like we have a very rough ride coming our way.
“It is rather unfortunate that this is what we are being subjected to. We appeal to all NPP supporters and Ghanaians to remain calm. And remember that we are one nation with a shared destiny. Elections are not a justification for violence and division.”
