Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced the party’s staunch opposition to any private sector involvement in the operations of the Electoral Commission (EC).

This response follows the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) recent calls for an independent forensic audit of the voter register.
The NDC has demanded this audit to address concerns about alleged discrepancies and to ensure transparency ahead of the December 7 general elections.
Party leaders, including National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, argue that the audit is crucial for the credibility of the electoral process and have warned that without it, the EC may not be able to conduct a fair and transparent election.
During the ‘Enough is Enough’ protests held nationwide, the NDC urged civil society, religious groups, and traditional leaders, including the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to press the EC to meet their demands.
A petition emphasizing the need for an independent audit was submitted to the EC’s headquarters and regional offices.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Henry Nana Boakye reaffirmed the NPP’s position, stating that the party would “strongly resist” any efforts to involve private institutions in the EC’s operations.
He stressed the NPP’s commitment to maintaining the EC’s independence and integrity, asserting that such private involvement “shall never happen.”
