Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has called on Ghanaians to remain united in the wake of the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight prominent public servants.

The victims included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Limuna, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former Obuasi East parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.

Speaking during the Speaker of Parliament’s visit to the family of the late Alhaji Muniru Limuna, Mr. Ayariga said moments of national tragedy should foster unity rather than division. He described the deceased as selfless patriots whose service to Ghana should inspire solidarity among citizens.

“We will continue to have memories of these wonderful people,” he said. “We want to assure their families that, even though we cannot replace them, we will remain as extended family members, offering the care and support we can. In Parliament, we will do what we can to remember them. In moments like this, let us be united as a country. This is the time their families need us most, and we should be available for them.”

The Bawku Central MP further urged the public to refrain from divisive commentary, stressing the importance of rallying around the bereaved families.

Meanwhile, Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna were laid to rest on Sunday, August 10, in accordance with Islamic rites, following solemn ceremonies attended by government officials, relatives, and members of the public.
