Following the Ejisu Parliamentary by-election, Kwabena Boateng, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, has emerged victorious, securing 27,782 votes, which represents 55.8% of the total valid votes cast.

This outcome ensures the NPP retains the seat, which was previously held by the late John Kumah, who won it in 2020.

Independent candidate Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi garnered 21,543 votes, accounting for 43.3% of the total.

The remaining candidates, including Esther Osei of the CPP, Beatrice Boakye of the LPG, and independents Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Attakorah Joseph, collectively received less than 1% of the votes.

With all 204 polling stations reporting, the NPP maintains its majority in Parliament, holding 138 seats compared to the NDC’s 137.

The main opposition NDC abstained from the by-election, which was triggered by John Kumah’s passing in March 2024.

The MP-elect, Kwabena Boateng, is expected to be sworn in by Speaker Alban Bagbin when Parliament reconvenes.
