Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has challenged former President John Mahama’s claims of economic mismanagement by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

In a recent engagement with journalists, Dr. Bawumia showcased the government’s achievements despite global economic challenges.

He highlighted improvements in GDP growth, per capita income, and gross international reserves as indicators of the administration’s success.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia pointed to advancements in infrastructure, such as roads, hospitals, and schools, and the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

He criticized the Mahama administration, noting that it struggled to afford basic resources like chalk even in the absence of a global crisis.

“If according to him (Mahama) we have mismanaged the economy in the midst of a global crisis…If our mismanaged economy is outperforming you in virtually every sector… We are outperforming you in GDP growth, per capita income, and gross international reserves in every sector. Roads hospitals schools everything, free SHS all of that if this is the mismanagement that is outperforming in your economy that had no global crisis.”

“No crisis at all but you couldn’t afford chalk but there was no crisis…Then in that case you must not have been very good. I wanted to say incompetent,” Dr Bawumia further stated.
