The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is celebrating 50 years since Ghana switched to driving on the right side of the road.

On August 4, 1974, Ghana changed from driving on the left to the right side of the road, making travel safer and easier with its neighboring countries.

This important change improved the country’s roads and helped traffic flow better.

The switch, moving away from British colonial habits, needed a lot of effort and cooperation. It also led to more road safety campaigns, better infrastructure, and stricter traffic laws.

To mark this 50-year milestone, the NRSA will have various events like public awareness campaigns, meetings with transport operators and drivers, and community outreach activities.

The NRSA invited everyone to join in celebrating this achievement and to commit to road safety.

This celebration is a reminder for all drivers to drive responsibly to prevent accidents and save lives.
