The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Patience Adams, has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is prepared to host football matches following the completion of renovations.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Adams confirmed that while the venue is now operational, it still requires formal approval from officials in Accra before it can officially reopen.

“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events, but we are awaiting clearance from our superiors in Accra,” she stated.

The stadium was previously closed for renovations after CAF declared it unfit for international matches due to the poor condition of the pitch.

This closure forced Ghana to relocate its 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan to Accra, and Asante Kotoko SC had to play their home games in Obuasi.

Once the necessary clearance is granted, Kotoko will return to their home ground at Baba Yara Stadium.
