The National Sports Authority (NSA) has refuted claims that the Borteyman Sports Complex was rented out for religious purposes.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the NSA clarified that the facility was actually hosting a student tour.

The event was organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ghana, University of Professional Studies, Valley View University, and other institutions.

According to the NSA, the students had requested a special visit to the complex as part of a tour of Accra’s newest attractions.

The itinerary included a lecture on leadership by a Deputy Minister, and the students were granted access to the hall for this purpose.

A church was involved in providing transportation for the students, but the event was not a church service, as had been mistakenly reported.

The NSA’s statement was in response to a video shared by Sports Journalist Fentuo Tahiro, which appeared to show a church service being held at the complex.
The NSA’s clarification highlights the importance of accurate information and the need to avoid misinformation.

The Borteyman Sports Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that features a 1,000-seater swimming pool, a multipurpose sports hall, a temporary dome for various sports, and a five-court tennis complex.
