Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe Urges Jean Mensa and EC to Uphold Integrity in Upcoming Elections
In a statement titled “Safeguarding Ghana’s Peace: A Call to the Electoral Commission and National Stakeholders,” Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a senior statesman and founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), called on Jean Mensa and the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct the upcoming elections with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and impartiality.

His appeal comes at a critical time for Ghana’s democracy, which is seen as a beacon of stability across Africa. Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized that the EC’s role goes beyond simply organizing elections, highlighting its responsibility to ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process.
“To the Electoral Commission of Ghana and its leadership, particularly Madam Jean Mensah, I issue this clarion call: history stands as a testament to the critical role of the Electoral Commission in maintaining the sanctity of our democracy.
“You are not the first to hold this esteemed office, and you will not be the last. The legacy of this institution has always been one of fairness, transparency, and impartiality. I urge you to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted with utmost integrity and without any perception or trace of bias. Let us remember that the trust of the people is the cornerstone of democratic governance.”
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe did not limit his admonitions to the Electoral Commission alone. He turned his attention to political parties, urging them to pursue power honourably devoid of the dangers of divisive politics and unethical practices.
He expressed concern over the potential for foul play, urging political actors to put the nation’s interests above personal or partisan gains. He reminded them that Ghana’s political stability and democratic progress depend on the collective commitment of all stakeholders to uphold ethical standards.
“Our political history has taught us that when institutions falter, nations stumble. I remind all political parties, especially the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), that the pursuit of power must never come at the expense of national unity. The scars of division are too costly, and the chaos of political unrest is a path none of us should tread. Power attained through dishonourable means is hollow and unsustainable.”
