Obetsebi Lamptey interchange highlights NPP’s transformative agenda – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has praised the successful completion of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange, describing it as a significant milestone in his administration’s efforts to modernize Ghana’s infrastructure and drive national development.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Friday, November 29, 2024, the President emphasized that the project marks a crucial advancement in addressing the chronic traffic congestion that has plagued Accra for years. He noted that the interchange plays a vital role in improving urban mobility and facilitating smoother transportation along one of the busiest routes in the capital.

President Akufo-Addo referred to the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange as a cornerstone of his government’s transformative agenda. He highlighted that the project reflects a broader vision to enhance infrastructure nationwide, with ongoing and upcoming initiatives aimed at modernizing transportation networks and promoting urban development across the country.

The President’s remarks underscore the government’s commitment to tackling long-standing infrastructural challenges while fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for Ghanaians.

The President also called on residents to support the maintenance and preservation of the infrastructure, ensuring its benefits are long-lasting and contribute to sustainable urban progress.

“I am very happy to be here this afternoon to commission Phase II of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange. This remarkable project is further evidence of my government’s strong commitment to transformative development. Development that enhances mobility and economic growth and improves the quality of life for all Ghanaians.

“With the inception of this project, my vision is clear to confront the persistent traffic congestion which has long impeded movement and economic activity in this crucial area of Accra.”

President Akufo-Addo also commended the collaboration between various stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and the local community, in bringing the project to fruition.

On his part, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, used the occasion to issue a stern warning against unauthorised activities at the interchange.
